Health and Safety

For emergencies, please contact Fire and Ambulance services by dialing 119. Also contact your supervisor and a Prefectural Advisor (PA) as soon as possible.

Physical Health

The Ibaraki International Association has English resources for foreigners looking for medical services. Please visit their website and consult the Guidebook for Foreign Residents for more information.

HIV

The AJET Peer Support Group (PSG) has made available an English guide and personal account for JETs wanting to know more about being tested for and living with HIV in Japan. You can view the guide here, HIV and JET, or through the PSGwiki.

Mental Health

Mental health is just as important as physical health. If you need to talk through any issues like culture fatigue, depression, anxiety, paranoia, or the like, please feel free to contact one of the Prefectural Advisors (PA), the Peer Support Group (PSG), the JET Line, or the Tokyo English Lifeline (TELL). Contact information can be found in the Support page.

For more information, please take a look at the Feeling JETlagged? Mental Health for JETs presentation from the 2014 Winter ALT Meeting.
